Protecting Indian Desi Cows

What do we do?

Mathruka Goshala is a non-profitable, non-political, non-communal organization rendering services towards rescuing cattle like cows, calves, bulls, bullocks, buffaloes and other animals from illegal slaughtering, animal sacrifice and other forms of animal cruelty. Mathruka Goshala was instituted as a trust in the year 2021, however has been working with a passion to serve desi cows for over 7 generations.

We care for aged cows, cows which have stopped milking, injured cows, bulls, male calves, calves born with genetic deformities due to inbreeding. We provide our holy beings a peaceful place to rest with sufficient food, water and shelter.

We support rural farming communities to adapt desi cows instead of hybrid cows. We support in adoption of desi cow and bull driven agricultural equipment to reduce dependency of farmers on high cost mechanical farming implements. These high cost implements and renting them has been pushing farmers into debt.

Our trust has not availed or obtained any kind of financial supports or grants from the Government. We are dependent on donations from individuals & organizations. Donors can also avail of tax benefits per income tax rules. The Gaushala strives to provide a hygienic safe environment for animals to roam freely. No tools which cause any harm to animals are used, such as tags which are put by piercing the ears and cause damage and infection to the ears of cows.

Hundreds of People from different places visit Mathruka Gaushala and many schools conduct educational trips for the students, which gives them exposure; and results in concrete dividends of fostering responsibility, empathy, humanity and benevolence in our younger generation. Students are provided with fodder and grains to feed animals and birds. Many premier educational institutions send requests for Student Internship as a part of their curriculum.

Cows, Animals & Birds Protections

Mathruka Gaushala provides food, shelter, water and medical treatment to more than 300 animals such as Cows, Calves, bulls and Buffaloes each day. We have employed 10 families to take care of animals and have provided home for them at the premises; we are also providing education to their children.

At present Gaushala is protecting the breeds such as Hallikar, Amrutmahal, Malad- gida, Gir, Punganur, Krishna Valley and other breeds. We are protecting, maintaining and developing these native breeds so that we do not lose our indigenous breeds.
